Milestones

With work progressing well on the 787 towards power on scheduled by the end of this month, Boeing reached a few other important milestones.
Ironically, Goldman Sachs today in their notes to investors believed that the 787 would be delayed for a third time. That will be discussed in another entry soon.
Last week, the 1,400th Queen Of The Skies was delivered to AirBridgeCargo, on lease from GECAS.

Entering service in 1995, the Boeing 777 has been no stranger to breaking records. Boeing delivered the 700th 777 (model 777-300ER), on lease from ILFC to Cathay Pacific. In doing so, the delivery marks it being the fastest for any twin aisle airplane in history.
To cap off a busy ten days, design work on the 747-8F reached the 50% mark, paving the way for fabrication of parts for the first airplane.
Assembly is scheduled to start in August, with roll out in early 2009.

Didn’t BCA Pres Carson say that he “didn’t want to do this again” in reference to the delay media call?
I’ve read GS’s report notes, I can’t say for sure that either they or Boeing will be correct - there hasn’t been much news for almost two months on the 787 - I wonder if this is just GS positioning a a new target price by the start of Quarter Two in relation to Boeing’s intended guidance on the 787 program?

Great livery for a great aircraft the Airbrige ERF.
On the progress I think Boeing originally hopes to start assembly in the beginning of 2008.

If assembly starts in August as you mention there has been arescheduling / delay of about 6 months.
On the next YouTalk, I hope to see a balanced article without to much Patty M retorics.

There is a problem with sealing and chemical incompatibility of some materials.
The problem of the fasteners is only a diversion tactic.
