Southwest 2500
For years, Southwest Airlines has not only been regarded as the original pioneer of low cost airlines, it has also been a stalwart buyer of Boeing 737’s.
According to figures available from Boeing’s website, the airline has ordered over 600 various 737 models, ranging from the 737-200 to the 737-700.

Befitting then, that the 2,500th Boeing 737NG goes to one of its most ardent operators.
Unfortunately, as of writing, Southwest has not placed any commemorative markings on ship 2500.

Even so, with a healthy backlog and no sign of a 737 replacement before 2015 at the earliest, Southwest Airlines continues to build on its successful operational strategy with the 737 family.

Cheers Rick!
