10th Dubai Air Show!
Marhaba!
The biennial Dubai Air Show starts tomorrow, November 11 2007.
Already regarded as one of the biggest air shows in the world alongside Farnborough and Paris, Dubai has certainly made its presence known, felt and seen on the map.

The event this year is the last in its current location in Dubai.
In 2009, the show moves to a custom built arena within the footprint of Al-Maktoum International Airport (formerly known as Dubai World Central International Airport ).

Taken from the official site:
Two hundred exhibitors took part in Dubai 89. The show covered 7,000 square metres at Dubai International Airport, taking up one large exhibition hall. Twenty-five aircraft were on display and 10,000 industry visitors attended.
Just nine shows on and Dubai 2005 had 726 exhibitors covering 35,000 square metres in three large exhibition halls on a purpose-built site next to the airport. 101 aircraft were on display and 35,000 trade visitors attended. What a difference two decades can make!
As we already know, Dubai is a city of superlatives. The show is expected to be equally big by number, transactions and the news that will permeate through the various news and media outlets over the next few days.
Most, if not all eyes will be fixated on the man behind the powerhouse that is Emirates.

The airline is poised to announce a large order at the show, which in recent weeks had been under speculation that it could defer any announcement, although that is an unlikely prospect on home turf. Expect a major order for a mix of A350’s.
Regardless of who ends up securing Emirates order, the 777 family will also feature in any order “spree”. FleetBuzz.com exclusively revealed the 777 plans a number of weeks ago. The airline will also increase its A380 commitments, for which it is already the largest customer.

Whatever takes place, the show is destined to be a success on a multitude of fronts.
After the show is over, a review of the weeks events and news stories will be done.
While Dubai is home to a very large Boeing 777 fleet, and soon with Airbus A380’s too, there is only one true ship of the desert!

As mentioned previously, Air Arabia is poised to stick with its A320 fleet for its upcoming order. Yemenia Airways also this week firmed up its A350XWB order. Airbus is destined to have another good show less than six months after Le Bourget.
But we all know that it stockpiles annoucements for major events whereas Boeing does not. Regardless of who scores and snares orders, for a region beset by religious woes, war, famine and destruction, the Dubai Air Show is the shining light in the Middle East - a beacon for all within the Persian Gulf peninsula to emulate.
But for now, Ma’ Salamah!
